Management Team

Jon Squire | CEO

Jon Squire has more than 20 years of business, marketing and product development experience in financial services and emerging technologies. Jon founded CardFree in 2012 with the vision of filling a gap in the marketplace for an integrated commerce platform for large merchants.

Prior to CardFree, Jon served as CMO at CorFire, SK C&C’s global mCommerce division, where he managed sales, business development, strategy and marketing. Jon was also SVP of Mobile Payments at mFoundry where he helped create the first mobile wallet initiatives in the U.S. with retailers, carriers and financial institutions. Between his work at CorFire and mFoundry, Jon has been involved in the two largest mobile payments programs in the nation.

Jon has consistently driven innovation and created world-class product offerings in new categories. He launched the first national mobile P2P offering in partnership with Sprint and PayPal and is well known for his leading-edge work with NFC, barcode and alternative technologies that integrate with the point of sale. Earlier in his career, he also led mobile/e-commerce payment initiatives for Wells Fargo and ran E*TRADE Advisory Services.

Alan Paul | CRO

Alan Paul has over 20 years of experience working both in and with large corporations and startups with expertise in finance, analysis, and strategy. Since graduating with an MBA from NYU in 2010 he has worked exclusively in the mobile commerce space working closely with merchants and partners on forecasting, business models, and go-to-market strategy. During that time Alan has gained a deep understanding of ROI across mobile payments, ordering, loyalty, and offers from extensive research and learnings from the most successful deployments in the industry.

Sen Wen | CTO

Sen Wen is a technology executive with over 20 years of helping teams build world class consumer experiences in mobile, web, retail, health and energy. As a founder and Head of Technology at CardFree, Sen has led the development of the platform, launching mobile ordering systems for large brands like Taco Bell and Dunkin’. Previously at Starbucks, Sen was the lead architect and principal engineer for key initiatives including NowPlaying, Starbucks.com, Starbucks Rewards, Social Gifting and the Starbucks Mobile application. He was one of the founders of a mobile ordering company, which won grand-prize at PayPal X challenge and launched in professional baseball and soccer venues. Sen brings a passion for technology, particularly the digital intersection of social, mobile and commerce.

Michelle McCracken | Dir of Product Development

Michelle brings 30 years of experience in delivering innovative technology products, including nearly 18 years developing technologies for Starbucks. There, she supported the modernization of the supply chain platform before transitioning to the digital team, where she played a key role in shaping the architecture of the Starbucks app. Michelle also created the product UX research team and integrated accessibility into the design processes. She later led the Martech and Personalization teams, incorporating machine learning to drive app adoption and increase ticket size. Prior to Starbucks, Michelle worked at a Seattle startup pioneering streaming technology and later joined AT&T Wireless where she designed a custom ERP platform. As a senior director at Concentrix Catalyst, she delivered multiple lifestyle apps and implemented agile practices across the organization. Outside of work, Michelle runs a sustainability non-profit and enjoys Tulsa’s music scene and hiking with her dog, Ghezza.

Sam Griffin | SVP of Engineering

Sam Griffin has over 10 years of experience building mobile and web applications. As SVP of Engineering, he has a proven track record of leading teams to deliver robust and timely solutions for brands large and small. Since joining CardFree, Sam has led the growth of the engineering team both locally and remote, and continues to contribute to the development of the platform with a focus in payment, loyalty, and POS integrations.

Derek Mitchell | Dir of Customer Success & Implementation

Derek Mitchell is a seasoned leader in digital payments with over a decade of experience in fintech and eCommerce. Currently the Head of Customer Success and Implementation at CardFree, he specializes in deploying innovative mobile payment solutions that enhance customer engagement and satisfaction in B2B2C environments. With a background in startups and the development of SaaS solutions, Derek is committed to innovation and revenue growth and plays a vital role in advancing digital payment strategies for CardFree merchants.
