When non-traditional dumplings became stars of the menu at his NYC eatery, restaurateur Stratis Morfogen, came up with a vision for a tech-focused dumpling QSR, drawing inspiration from 1920s tech — the automat. The original contactless restaurant solution, automats are essentially large vending machines with multiple lockers distributing fresh food.

Morfogen brought his vision to life with Brooklyn Dumpling Shop — a 100% self-service QSR using a 21st century automat, enabling customers to place orders on their phones or via in-store kiosks, scan a code to open a locker, and take their dumplings to go.

In 2021 the first Brooklyn Dumpling Shop opened to near-immediate success, and several more franchises popped up soon after. With plans for massive growth, the brand needed an update to a scaleable, unified order, pay, and loyalty system that that could easily handle more units as the franchise grew — Brooklyn Dumpling Shop came to CardFree to scale up.

We worked with the brand to develop a customized kiosk, web app, and native app, creating a consistent, easy ordering experience through every customer touchpoint. Additionally, we worked with Brooklyn Dumpling Shop’s team to create a multi-tiered loyalty program with marketing and engagement tools to help grow the brand and keep guests coming back for more.

Today, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop franchises 10 locations with several more under construction and aggressive plans for growth.
