Tree House Brewing Company started in 2011 operating out of a small barn in Brimfield, MA. In the years since, they’ve grown to become one of the top breweries in the world, winning a plethora of awards and top-10 mentions year after year. Tree House now boasts five large brewery and tasting room facilities, producing dozens of beer varietals along with coffee, spirits, cider, seltzer, and more. Given that each Tree House location offers different items and a unique guest experience, the brewery came to CardFree in need of a mobile order and pay solution with the ability to manage multiple menus and order flows, including order ahead for curbside pickup as well as tasting room drink tickets.
On Premise:
We worked closely with Tree House to develop a customized, on-premise ordering system to simplify the staff’s workflow. Instead of the traditional taproom setup where customers order and pay at the bar, we developed a mobile prepaid “draft ticket” system. In this scenario, customers purchase draft tickets either before their visit through the brewery’s web app or on-premise via QR code or self-serve kiosk and then present their draft ticket to a bartender, allowing bar staff to focus solely on pouring pints, no payment process involved.
Order Ahead for Pickup:
Tree House Brewing Company is non-distributing, meaning the only place beer enthusiasts can get their hands on a bottle is on-site at one of their locations. Given the cult-like following Tree House has earned, their team needed an efficient way for customers to purchase beer for pickup without being inundated with long lines. To solve for this, we developed a branded web app that allows customers to place orders and select their pickup time, creating a streamlined order, pay, and pickup process.
Smart AI Upsell
After initial success with CardFree Order Ahead, Tree House added our Smart AI Upsell feature, which uses real-time data to suggest perfectly paired items based on customers’ cart selections before checkout. Given that Tree House offers dozens of different kinds of beer, coffee, and spirits, using AI to suggest items that compliment the brand’s unique flavor profiles was a perfect solution to boost revenue and introduce customers to products they may not have tried otherwise.
The results: a 326% increase in upsell adoption compared to previous standard upsell suggestions.
